Paul joined the Council of Marine Carriers (CMC) in February 2022. His vast career in the marine industry has spanned 40 years thus far with positions at sea and ashore in operations and senior management. He began his maritime career in the local fishing industry, but quickly moved into the marine transportation sector, primarily working on tugs and barges in on deck and in engine room capacities.
Paul’s shoreside operations experience include time working locally and internationally in the offshore industry, shipbuilding, and specialized heavy lift marine transports. Paul has held positions in dispatch, port captains, chartering and most recently executive management.
He has a wide array of knowledge in operations, engineering, training, and management systems including International Safety Management (ISM), Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSAS 18001), Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) and Quality Management System (ISO 9001).
Preeti Kaur joined the Council of Marine Carriers as Business Manager in March 2022.
Preeti comes to the CMC having spent the last number of years in a similar role within the BC home construction industry. Prior to that, Preeti was employed in the healthcare industry both as a hospital administrator and staff nurse.
Ian assumed the role of CMC Chairman in June 2022.
He started in the marine industry as a deckhand and worked at sea until 2005 when he came ashore and began a management role focusing on developing Harken’s training and safety programs. In 2006, Ian shifted to a dispatch/logistic coordinator role, and for the last 8 years, he has managed Harken Towing’s staff and crew as their General Manager.
