Scholarship

The Council of Marine Carriers has a longstanding tradition of supporting post-secondary education within our membership. Since 2015, the CMC has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships to deserving students pursuing post-secondary studies. Net proceeds from our Biennial Towboat Industry Conference and Tradeshow help fund our Scholarship and Bursary Program.
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our sponsors, exhibitors, and delegates at the 2026 BC Towboat Conference & Tradeshow, we were proud to continue supporting the Peter Woodward Memorial Scholarship. We are pleased to offer this scholarship again in 2026. It is open to all British Columbia residents pursuing post-secondary education in a marine-related field at a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.

On behalf of the Council of Marine Carriers’ 2023 Scholarship Review Committee, we are proud to announce awards totalling $24,000 to 10 successful applicants. The quality of all submissions received this year was excellent, which made choosing the finalists a difficult process. These ten winners clearly met the scholarship requirements and are most worthy recipients.
